What You Need To Know About Your Backyard Water Garden!

So many of us have a back yard water garden under 5000 gallons but what you may not know is that a small water garden requires different care than a larger pond. Yup, that's right!  Smaller bodies of water cycle much faster than bigger bodies of water. What does that really mean?  It means that a smaller body of water will need more frequent treatments than a larger body because the bacteria levels will decrease faster than in a larger volume of water.

You see, when you add beneficial bacteria Clarity Max, One Fix or Pond Clear to a pond or dugout it goes to work to consume the organics and nutrients in the water. Without the nutrients available in the water, the algae and aquatic growth have less to use for its growth thus slowing it down. However, when the body of water is smaller the bacteria needs to be added more frequently sometimes every 3 days during the peak of the summer.

Smaller bodies of water warm up more and tend not to hold the dissolved oxygen. Installing a Koi Air aeration system is critical to keep the body of water oxygenated. The dissolved oxygen helps the beneficial bacteria do its job.

These are a few of the main components to keep your pond clear and healthy! Call us if you have further questions 204-745-6898
